Donating Medical Equipment in Minnesota: Giving Items a Second Life Through Mano a Mano
One of the most rewarding parts of our work at Good Move Downsizing is helping families find meaningful homes for items they no longer need.
This week, we delivered a truck full of donated medical equipment to Mano a Mano, an incredible Minnesota nonprofit that collects medical supplies and equipment and helps distribute them to hospitals, clinics, and communities in Bolivia.
As we walked through their warehouse, we saw pallets filled with wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, shower chairs, and other medical supplies waiting to begin their next chapter. It was a powerful reminder that items sitting unused in a basement, garage, or spare bedroom can continue helping people for years to come.
What Happens to Medical Equipment After Downsizing?
Many older adults and families accumulate medical equipment during health challenges, caregiving situations, or after the loss of a loved one. When it’s time to downsize, move, or clear out a home, families often ask:
What should we do with walkers and wheelchairs?
Can medical equipment be donated?
Where can I donate crutches in Minnesota?
Who accepts used medical supplies near me?
The good news is that many items can be donated and reused, helping others while keeping valuable equipment out of landfills.
Why We Love Mano a Mano
Mano a Mano is a Minnesota-based nonprofit that partners with communities in Bolivia to improve access to healthcare, education, clean water, and economic opportunity.
Their medical reuse program collects donated equipment and supplies that can make a significant difference for healthcare providers and patients who may otherwise have limited access to these resources.
Organizations like Mano a Mano help ensure that donations create real impact long after they leave a home.
Downsizing With Purpose
At Good Move Downsizing, we believe that responsible donation is an important part of the downsizing process.
Whether we’re helping an older adult move to senior living, supporting a family after the loss of a loved one, preparing a home for sale, or completing a full home clear-out, we work hard to identify items that can continue serving others.
That often means coordinating donations to local nonprofits, community organizations, reuse programs, and specialized donation partners like Mano a Mano.
